SARAWAK STATE ASSEMBLY JUNE 2016: See Chee How's Questions

For Oral Answers:

1.         To ask the Right Honourable Chief Minister, Minister of Finance and Minister of Resource Planning and Environment:

What are the 5-years plans and targets of our timber industry to meet global consumer expectations particularly that of the high value markets, for sustainable forest management and legal timber, to boost export revenue of our timber and timber products.

2.         To ask the Right Honourable Chief Minister and Minister of Finance:

The total amount of GST collected from Sarawak and the respective sums of GST paid in utilisation and consumption of public utility amenities (power and electricity, water, telephone and telecommunication services).

3.         To ask the Honourable Minister of Public Utilities:

For the respective year of 2006 to 2015, what were the contribution of Sarawakians to Universal Service Provision (USP) Funds and how much were disbursed from it for building of transmission facilities in rural Sarawak in those corresponding 10 years?

4.         To ask the Honourable Minister of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing:

The respective numbers of flood affected families according to localities in Kuching and its vicinity in January and February this year. How many amongst them have received the financial assistance from the National Disaster and Relief Management Committee?

5.         To ask the Honourable Minister of Infrastructure Development and Transportation:

How did Sarawak perform in achieving the targets of Urban Public Transport NKRA (National Key Result Areas) under the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and the progress of existing plans to improve public transport in the state.

6.         To ask the Honourable Minister of Public Utilities:

What are the plans and programmes to encourage the production and utilization consumption of alternative renewable and sustainable energy such as solar and mini-hydro power sources to better conserve and safeguard our environment.

7.         To ask the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urbanization:

7.1         What are the short term and long term approaches identified by the Drainage and Irrigation Department and the special committee chaired by the State Secretary to resolve and mitigate flash floods in Kuching city, particularly those identified as critical areas such as the Sarawak General Hospital, Jalan Batu Lintang, Jalan Rock, Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho, Tabuan Dayak and the areas along Sungai Tabuan?

7.2         What are the works that have been undertaken for the implementation of the identified short term and long term approaches to mitigate flash floods in Kuching city, particularly those critical areas?

7.3         What is the financial allocation that has been secured to carry out works to mitigate flooding of Kampung Tabuan Dayak in 2016 and 2017.

8.         To ask the Honourable Minister of Housing and Urbanization:

8.1         The plans and progress of providing basic infrastructural and amenities including proper access roads, drainage, water, power supply and waste collection to the families of Kampung Kudei located at Jalan Pisang Barat, Jalan Nanas Barat and Jalan Rubber Barat, particularly the list of families who were supposedly be resettled to the Batu Kawa resettlement Scheme near Taman Desa Wira, and whether land surveying job had been carried out to identify and demarcate the land of all the families with the aim to issue land titles to them; and

8.2         The progress of the works undertaken to resolve and mitigate flooding of Kampung Kudei and its vicinity.

9.         To ask the Right Honourable Chief Minister and Minister of Resource Planning and Environment:          

Whether the “Forest Certification” of the 12 forest timber licences within the Heart of Borneo (HoB) areas will comply with the state policy direction set by the present Right Honourable Chief Minister, for particularly sustainable management of the forests to the acceptance of global communities, and what are the principles and criterion for the “Forest Certification” of these 12 forest timber licences which will ensure that the timber harvested from these licensed areas will satisfy the principles and criterion of the Malaysian Timber Legality Assurance System?

10.      To ask the Honourable Minister of Welfare, Women and Community Wellbeing:

10.1       The number of early childhood learning institutions (including kindergartens, pre-schools, nurseries) in Sarawak, according to districts, funded managed and operated by government bodies and agencies and the financial allocation for these institutions for each of the last 5 years, 2011 to 2015.

10.2       The list of Penan settlements with such early childhood learning institutions funded managed and operated by government bodies and agencies.
