Sarawak PKR vice chairman says Daud Abdul Rahman cannot hold any public portfolio while being probed for corruption.

PETALING JAYA: An assistant minister whose accounts were frozen yesterday by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on suspicion of corruption, should voluntarily step down from public office, said Sarawak PKR vice chairman See Chee How.
In a statement to FMT this afternoon, See called on Daud Abdul Rahman, the Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development to “uphold his pledge of integrity and volunteer to suspend and relieve himself from his public portfolio” at least while investigations on him were ongoing.
“I do not wish to prejudge the assistant minister concerned but it was also clear from the expose (by Sarawak Report) that the assistant minister did not attempt to hide his close connection with the company, Eastbourne Corporation Berhad, implicated in the alleged wrongdoing,” See, who is also the Batu Lintang assemblyman, said.
He also called on Chief Minister Adenan Satem to suspend his assistant minister to show the people he meant what he said about leading the state with integrity.
“The Chief Minister is urged to demand that the assistant minister shows cause and immediately relieve him from his public duties, to safeguard and continue to portray his pledge to lead a state administration of integrity, transparency and accountability.”
The case was first exposed by whistleblower portal, the Sarawak Report way back in 2013 leading to the freezing of his accounts by the MACC yesterday.
