We'll survive, says Azmin in wake of royal slap

In the wake of a stinging royal admonishment, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali remains confident that the party will survive the Selangor menteri besar crisis.

He also urged all leaders and members to be calm and not indulge in actions that can further erode the situation.

"I admit that we now facing some difficulty, but based on experience and the spirit of cooperation in PKR and Pakatan Rakyat, PKR leaders will overcome this current adversity," he said in a statement.

Azmin also stressed that PKR is committed to Pakatan and underscored the importance of strengthening unity in the opposition bloc.

"In view of this, I hope leaders and members not to be hasty, but always exercise courtesy and be calm in all situations.

"Insya Allah (God willing), we will use our wisdom to clear the current murkiness," he added in a statement.

The menteri besar impasse has strained ties in the Anwar Ibrahim-led Pakatan, especially between PAS and its allies.

Meanwhile, Azmin (above) also stressed that PKR's policy is to uphold the democratic system and constitutional monarchy.

"I am confident we will emerge from the current imbroglio.

"We must polish our commitment and out will to move forward to develop Selangor and safeguard the interests of the people," he added.

Earlier today, the Selangor palace accused PKR and DAP of being insolent and defiant for not adhering to the sultan’s request to submit more names for the menteri besar post.

Both parties have, since the onset, insisted on Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is the president of PKR.
