KUCHING: Barisan Nasional politicians should focus on real issues concerning the people such as alleged loss of native customary rights land and corrupt practices, said Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian.
He said in the past weeks, Sarawakians had been jolted by a number of shocking issues that triggered anger against the government and authorities.
Additionally, the Ba’Kelalan assemblyman also wanted to clear the air about him running away from his state constituency to run for Parliament in the elections.
“We have statements by the likes of Abdul Karim Hamzah (Asajaya assemblyman and Assistant Housing Minister) that I am running away from Ba’Kelalan to stand in Limbang,” Baru said in a recent press statement.
“Far from running away, I am very much still with my people in Ba’Kelalan. I am now offering myself to the people of Limbang, who have the democratic right to make their choice,” he said.
He said Pakatan Rakyat was confident that the people were discerning enough to make wise decisions for the future of this country and would choose Pakatan to form a new government that was competent, accountable and transparent.
“As Ba’Kelalan assemblyman, I have, together with other members of the Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly, raised issues related to the failure of the Barisan government to protect the people’s rights throughout the state, including my people in Ba’ Kelalan.
“I invite Karim to check the record in the last four State Legislative Assembly sittings, as well as my comments and action taken in this matter before he makes baseless claims,” he said.
