The Election Commission (EC) has disclosed to the parliamentary select committee (PSC) on electoral reforms that overseas voting could be possible, but only if it is via postal voting.
“On overseas voting, the EC has come back to us that it can be done but through postal voting process,” the committee’s chairperson Maximus Ongkili told reporters.
He said that the EC proposed this during a meeting with the committee at Parliament House today.
However, a PSC member, Rasah MP Anthony Loke, clarified that the committee is still discussing the issue with the EC and has not accepted the proposal yet.
The PSC is set to meet again next Tuesday to further discuss the matter and finalise its list of recommendations.
The committee has another meeting scheduled on the 22 and another meeting after that before tabling its recommendations to Parliament by April 2.
