BREAKING NEWS: Janji Azmin kepada Sarawak (Azmin's promise to Sarawak)

UPDATED

PKR de factor leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and Nasharudin Mat Isa of PAS signed an agreement in September that pledges to grant autonomy to Sabah and Sarawak should Pakatan Rakyat capture Putrajaya at the next GE13th.

YB Azmin was only reiterating a promise that was already made on Malaysia Day on 16th September, 2010 in Sabah.

You probably don’t know about it because the mainstream media did not give the historic signing any news coverage whatsoever.

Nevertheless, you can read about it HERE, HERE, and HERE.

On Sunday, 12th December 2010, at a PKR Pre-Christmas Dinner held in Bintulu, PKR's recently elected Deputy President YB Mohd. Azmin Ali, spoke to a large dinner crowd consisting of about 300 party members and supporters. Present were DAP's YB Chiew Chin Sing, Sarawak PKR leader Baru Bian and several other party stalwarts.

In his speech, which he lambasted the Sarawak BN and its leadership for its corruption and cronyism, YB Azmin challenged the Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud to dissolve the Sarawak state assembly immediately if BN is so confident of its showing in the coming state polls.

In his rousing and fiery speech, YB Azmin also made a promise that got the 300-strong crowd onto its feet that turned into a five minute long standing ovation and applause. “Pakatan Rakyat akan memberi kuasa autonomi sepenuhnya kepada Sarawak sekiranya Pakatan Rakyat memenangi PRU13.” (Pakatan Rakyat will give full autonomy to Sarawak if we win at the 13th General Elections.)

YB Azmin went on to elaborate that “PR akan menghormati Perjanjian Malaysia semasa penubuhan Malaysia pada tahun 1963,” (PR will respect the Malaysia Agreement that was entered into at the formation of Malaysia in 1963) in reference to the 18 Point Agreement. Clearly YB Azmin had tapped into the very issue that resonates with all Sarawakians, regardless of colour or creed.

“Sabah dan Sarawak tidak masuk Malaysia. Sabah dan Sarawak menubuhkan Malaysia bersama Persekutuan Tanah Tanah Melayu,” (Sabah and Sarawak did not enter Malaysia. Sabah and Sarawak formed Malaysia together with the Federated States of Malaya) he added, to even more boisterous applause.

He ended his speech with a further promise, “Saya, Azmin, akan mempertahankan Sarawak dan membela orang orang Sarawak. 'Agi idup agi ngelaban!'” (I, Azmin, will defend Sarawak and be an advocate of the peoples of Sarawak. "While I breathe, I hope!") YB Azmin's use of the famous Sarawakian quote, which is derived from the Latin 'Dum spiro spero' that was the family motto of the Brooke Rajahs, was nothing less than genius that fired the crowd.

After the dinner, PKR leader Baru Bian, when met, said “This is a very clear message and commitment from our national leaders and Pakatan Rakyat to the people of Sarawak. It is a resolute promise from PKR to right the wrong suffered by Sarawak due to the neglect and failure of the BN government and to restore and honour the agreement made by our forefathers 47 years ago.”

“All this while, local Sarawak parties have been harping on the point that only they can deliver what Sarawak and Sarawakians need. Let me reiterate our stance: it is not whether a party is locally based that matters but what the party is fighting for. This is paramount and crucial. PKR, although a national party, is concerned with local issues. YB Azmin's declaration and promise very clearly shows that PKR at the national level understands local issues and will act on them and deliver to Sarawakians their greatest wish: full autonomy,” elaborated Bian.

“We urge all Sarawakians to unite and support Pakatan Rakyat because we are determined to redeem our rights that have been stolen from us for the last 47 years,” said Bian.

YB Mohd. Azmin Ali is on an East Malaysian tour, his first visit as PKR's Deputy President.

PKR party election showed that PrettyBoy has always been more interested in power grab than serving party and people! What credibility has he left since, huh? Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim has to watch over his shoulder 24/7 and so do you, Baru Bian!

"Pakatan Rakyat will give full autonomy to Sarawak if we win at the 13th General Elections" - Azmin Ali

I have not the slightest doubt in all probability Pakatan Rakyat may agree to this but did Azmin Ali consult senior Pakatan Rakyat leaders before making that public statement in Bintulu, Sarawak?

Who is he to speak ahead of senior Pakatan Rakyat leaders? ...he's that desperate?

Great! Thanks Baru Bian for your response and clarification, much appreciated.

I see, so it has been promised by top leaders of Pakatan Rakyat coalition in September this year, and Azmin Ali wasted no time hijacked this "full autonomy" thingy to look like his 'promise' to Sarawak?

Shouldn't this be an issue that needs serious attention of PR top leadership for deep thoughts and discussion into the nitty-gritty of things to follow-up, rather than for this slime-ball to do chest-beating rhetoric campaign on stage in Bintulu?

Hello Jong

In response to your stance which you are fully entitled to and which we respect, we would just like to clarify that at the dinner during his speech, before he reiterated the promise, Azmin did clearly explain about the signing of the autonomy pact on 16th September 2010 in Sabah by the top leadership of PR. he did not hijack the promise. He merely re-enforced and REITERATED it on behalf of his leadership.

The top leadership had looked at the nitty-gritty of the repercussions of autonomy and it was agreed that the best way would be to respect and honour the 18-Point Agreement and the 20-Point Agreement (part of the Social Contract which Mahathir talks about a lot but conveniently forgets Sabah and Sarawak) that were quietly side-stepped by the BN government.

The 18-Point Agreement essentially gives full autonomy. It would be good if you could research what the 18-Point Agreement says and from there understand what we mean by full autonomy. So when YB Azmin said PR would respect the Malaysia Agreement of 1963 (i.e. the 18-Point Agreement) and give full autonomy, he was merely regurgitating what his top leadership had already planned, studied, researched and signed. The 16th September 2010 pact signed in Sabah was not a hastily cobbled agreement. It is a well-researched proposal which received the blessing and signatures of YB Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, YB Lim Kit Siang and YB Nasharudin Mat Isa.

Nevertheless, thank you for your concern.

It looks like they are many dayak leaders who sits comfortably in the state goverment and enjoying all kind of peaks. They are confusing the people with development like basic things (water, electricity, roads)We dayaks need development but we also need a reasonable standard of living. We also like the CM to be a dayak as well as other important post reserve for Dayaks. This is a reasonable demand as the Dayaks are the majority in the state. You Dayak leaders in the goverment ask your conscience are your treating the dayak people fairly. In Malaya
even a deputy non malay PM is a senstive issue over there. Please do some soul searching...THANKS

Mr Baru Bian, I have no intention to critise PKR and his supporters. But I have one doubt about the story contained in the link below.

It seems that Anwar wanted to interfere with the selection of candidates in Batu Sapi by-election, which means that he does not appreciate the candidate decision given by Jeffrey Kitingan and his fellow PKR committee. Based on this, I doubt the credibility of Anwar of becoming the future prime minister of Malaysia and the 16 September agreement signed pertaining to giving Sabah and Sarawak much needed autonomy. Could you clarify on this?

Right Baru Bian, let’s hope Pakatan Rakyat is fully committed, keeps to its words to honor and respect the 18 and 20 Point Agreement for Sarawak and Sabah, without fail!

Together let's bury BN and change the government!
Agi Idup, Agi Ngelaban!

Alahai, why there's some people who are really really hard to understand what is democracy.

Dari sekolah lagi kita dah belajar.

Simple example :
Tingkatan 1 kita lantik A jadi ketua tingkatan.Tapi si A ni banyak salah guna kuasa.Bila escape kelas cakap pergi tolong guru kelas and etc.Lepas tu duit kelas dia songlap.Suruh buat majlis makan makan kelas budget RM50 dia songlap RM20.Takkan kita nak simpan ketua tingkatan macam ni kan?So moving on to tingkatan 2,kita tukar la ketua kelas.Pilih B pulak.IF B can lead and serve us better.Kita boleh kekalkan dia until tingkatan 3.Kalau still corrupt jugak macam A.Kita tukar la lagi.

Susah gilak ka ktk orang nak faham benda tok?Tell you what,i am 19years old.But i really dislike our federal government and state government. Why?
Tepuk dada tanya selera lah sahabat sekalian.
Benda dah terang lagi bersuluh.Adakah the only reason orang selain PBB or BN sik boleh memerintah sarawak is they cant lead and serve us?Pernah sik kita cuba?

Seriously i didnt think being a sarawakian ada special apa-apa.My state have a lott lottt of oil.Tapi sik nampak sinei tuju.Is it go to road maintanance?NO.Tangga jak jeraya dari satok ke airport.Tunggu jak hari hujan.Drainage hancur.MILO?Basic living things?Compare to semenanjung murah gik barang di sinun. The only reason why i can save a lot of money here is i dont have any place to waste my money for entertainment.Abis abis pun nangga wayang rah The Spring.Isi minyak banyak banyak pun sik tauk where to go.Shopping?Better save some amount of money, booked airasia.Dapat pergi balik KL RM200.Better shopping sinun.Puas hati barang pun murah dan banyak pilihan.

I havent continue my study yet. Why?Currently i am doing some freelance job, internet business and etc.Just enough to support myself and give some money to support my parents.

Once,i've been to UniKL MIAT for aircraft maintanance and i cant afford the tuition fees.I tried apply for MARA LOAN but it was rejected.I was thinking for PTPTN but PTPTN just give maximum amount RM3K per semester but my tuition fee per semester is RM5k.Belum campur duit makan minum lagik. So at the end i quit.Mun mintak yayasan sarawak daknya sik support IPTA.Plus sidak YS just molah collaboration dengan Hornbill Skyways to send some student to MIAT also.Tapi tahun bila kah dolok.2008 i think.I entered MIAT tahun 2009.I diminished my ambition to become an aircraft engineer just because no financial support althiugh I am bumiputra,i am malay.Although my SPM is not straight a's,i got 5a's and credit all the subject. What to say,my rezeki is not to become an aircraft engineer and Allah S.W.T give me chance to utilise this internet function well.Alhamdulillah i can learn how to do freelance job rather than just wasting my time on social network.

Sir Baru Bian,
I hope you will take note of my words,i really hope Yayasan Sarawak kita yang kaya raya ya dapat betul betul digunakan duit nya untuk rakyat.Dari daknya molah bangunan yayasan sarawak nak baru di samariang, bagus sidak support our students to mesir/indon to molah medic ka,sponsor masuk GGIFA ambik piloting ka.And i heard GGIFA dah nak molah aircraft maintenance course juak dah.So utilise lah duit ya macam yayasan terengganu at least. They send their student to egypt for medics.Kakya ada yang polah piloting rah terengganu(new aviation school called KISTAA),and yayasan terengganu molah collaboration dengan MAS for Trainee Aircraft Maintanance Engineer(TAME).Ya baruk nampak where the Yayasan money keluar pergi sinei.Jealous nangga sidak because they have so much opportunity and options.

Mun kerajaan sik corrupt to fill cronies pun perut, mesti banyak dah duit nak diseleweng ya dapat dipake untuk rakyat marhaen.
